PSP Minis pricing up to publishers says Sony

PSP Minis pricing up to publishers says SonyNot loving the PSP Mini’s pricing? Blame it on the games publishers says SCEA’s Eric Lempel who urges publishers to “carefully price their content.”

When PSP Minis were announced they were to be cheaper smaller games suited to impulse purchasers wanting to be entertained on the er, go.

Sony might be reluctant to readily admit it but the company clearly wants to eat away at the Apple App Store which has some games going free and other such as the addictive Tap Tap Revenge going for 59p.

At the moment PSP Minis are available for £2.49, £3.49 and £3.99 respectively. SCEA man Eric Lempel hopes such costs will be driven down.

“I think they have to carefully look at that, carefully price their content”, he told Joystiq.

“Minis was intended to be something a little different and we wanted to see a lot of different types of content through minis. If it’s not priced correctly, consumers may be turned off at the proposition and say ‘I’d rather just go for this kind of stuff instead of minis.’”

Has the PSP Minis pricing put you off? Let us know.
