Miyamoto interested in user-generated Mario game
Shigeru Miyamoto has expressed his interest in lending gamers the tools to make their own Super Mario Bros levels just as in LittleBigPlanet.
With the legendary plumber having been around for half a century he’s covered pretty much every genre bar first-person shooters. So what next? User generated content.
Shigeru Miyamoto has been impressed with he’s seen so far from the likes of LittleBigPlanet and has hinted that he’d quite like to see some of that action in a future Super Mario Bros. title.
“This is an area that I have a lot of interest in, and I think that the side-scrolling Mario games in particular are well suited to that idea,” Miyamoto told Joystiq.
In fact Nintendo has already discussed it.
“Of course the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series is one that’s made in North America by NST, but it’s one that I’ve been involved in and from early on. We did have a lot of discussions about how to enable that kind of level creation in that series.
Speaking about the developing genre Miyamoto reckons we’ll see much more user-generated content in future games like the already announced ModNation Racers where gamers can create their own racetracks to share online.
“…I think those types of interactive experiences are going to continue to broaden and we’ll see a lot more user-generated content going forward. I’ve always had an interest in those kinds of creative tools, so I will definitely be open to ideas like that in the future,”
