Fumito Ueda: Modern Warfare a “sublime beauty”
The Last Guardian designer Fumito Ueda has expressed his fancy for Infinity Ward’s shooters describing the feeling he has playing them as a “sublime beauty.”
Speaking about western games the man behind Ico and Shadow of the Colossus told 1UP that he’s quite looking forward to Modern Warfare 2.
“It’s one of the few games, I think, that conjures up what’s going outside of the picture in your mind as well,” he said. “I feel a serious sublime beauty in all of Infinity Ward’s FPSes.”
It’s particularly significant given Ueda’s recent admission that he himself would one day like to make a first person game with techniques to instill the same sense of feeling he’s known for.
“I have an interest in making first-person games,” he said last month adding that he’d like to make an FPS where the player is involved at all times.
“…all of a sudden you’re in a cut-scene [and] you’re not supposed to operate at all, that’s not the kind of game I want to do. If there is some other techniques that will not give them that kind of feeling, that’s something I want to implement.”
