Heavy Rain developer to explore motion controls

Submitted by Stephen Ebert on November 2, 2009 – 3:40 pmNo Comment

Heavy Rain developer to explore motion controls Quantic Dream, the developers behind cinematic title Heavy Rain are investigating the idea of giving its future titles PS3 motion control skills. Could they appear in Heavy Rain 2?

Heavy Rain director and writer, David Cage  told PlayStation Lifestyle that the team has already looked at prototypes for the controller and could use it in upcoming offerings.

On the controller he said that “…there is something really unique and interesting in this device”, adding “…this is certainly something we are going to explore in the near future.”

Much of Heavy Rain’s gameplay involves hitting buttons in a series of well choreographed quicktime events with different outcomes depending on a players course of action.

A sequel, if there is one could ditch the QTE bits for actually being able to move your players arms with your motions. It already uses SIXAXIS motion controls to do so.

Earlier on we got some hands on time with Heavy Rain. Click here to see what we thought so far.
