Microsoft: Beware second-hand Xbox 360 consoles
Xbox 360 owners in-waiting have been urged to be wary of second hand consoles as they could be modified consoles unable to connect to Xbox Live.
Espousing the virtues of combating piracy a post on Major Nelson warns that those that modify their consoles to play pirated discs face being banned from Xbox Live.
And as such Microsoft has warned against purchasing second hand consoles, adding that its warranty is not transferrable if the console has previously been banned.
“All consumers should know that piracy is illegal, and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs, violates the Xbox LIVE terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox LIVE”, a statement on Major Nelson explains.
Microsoft once again urged gamers to avoid pirating games, and instead pay for them to support the video game industry.
“The health of the video game business depends on customers paying for the genuine products and services they receive from manufacturers, retailers, and the third parties that support them.”
