PS3 Facebook, customised ID cards in next PS3 update?

PS3 Facebook, customised ID cards in next PS3 update? The world’s about to get that bit smaller for PS3 users. The Sony console may soon be getting integrated Facebook skills, along with customisable PlayStation ID cards.

The discovery came after images on the net were spotted by ScrawlFX of what appears to be an embedded Facebook application in the PS3’s media bar.

Thanks to the existing PS3 web browser owners of the console can already access the social site, but it looks like Sony’s planning a more PS3-friendly built-in service possibly similar to that set to appear on Xbox 360.

Nifty detective work also uncovered an image hosted on the UK PlayStation site of what looks like a customisable PlayStation Network ID as spotted by Scrawlfx.

The likely addition of Facebook to PS3 shouldn’t come as too much of a shock, mind.

Sony Computer Entertainment worldwide studios president, Shuhei Yoshida previously hinted that the feature could one day appear as a feature of the console.

“Something like 300 million people already have accounts on Facebook. Why should we ignore that?,” he said in September.

yes this sounds very good, but to be onesty this want satisfy many playstation users.we need things that will make ps3 even more enjoyable and bettter than xbox.xbox have sky player that is very good, next their gettting facebook and twitter and what makes this even better is they don’t have internet.bbc iplayer on ps3 is rubish its just a quick shortcut to get into it.we need a new dashboard because our previous one is very old and needs to be updated and we also need our what’s new to be updated more often just like xbox

  • phantom2k88 says:

what ive noticed is many playstation users are now switching to xbox because ps3 is getting boring.without games on the ps3,ps3 would be rubbish. as a playstation user i feel that we should get the most out of our console and enjoy it to the fullest, but we are not gettting so much of this.what sony needs to do to make ps3 once again the best is listen to playstation users ideas.

  • MOBTASTIC says:

yhhhh i agree with this guy(phantom2k88) we need things like a new dashboard and our what’s new to be updated on a regular basis.the previous dashboard has beeen on ps3 for yearssss never been updated or changed so this is something that should be considered.look at xbox they had a shit dashboard before now they have a very good one plus the avatar.ps3 used to be the best console now xbox are taking our title we shouldn’t let this stand.

  • peace2k8 says:

phantom2k88 is very right i couldnt agree with him more.my friend owns an xbox and on it their is sum video that comes on it every week with these two guys that answer loads of xbox users questions.how come ps3 does not have something like this?all these little things would make ps3 great again.i dislike xbox, but their getting some amazing shit.facebook, twitter sum video streaming and more things to do with their avatar.ps3 needs to get bak on its feet!!!

  • soulplane94 says:

da fin bout xbox is its good for now but its gonna crashhh n burn in da future and never rise.right now what sony is doing there not revealing future plans for ps3,ps3 users are finding ps3 boring and convertin to xbox. if sony continue like this then nobody will have ps3 anymore everyone will be bangin out xbox.yo sony! u need to start listenin to what ps3 users want because that is what will make the console great

  • nahh nahh dont get it twisted what ps3 are saying now about this new id things is good yh,but facebook? its just gonnna be a link that goes into it just like bbciplayer.we can already access facebook from the internet and bbciplayer. new dashboard, our what’s new to be updated on a regular basis, more stuff to do on our friends list, accest to talk on our headsets to our friends whenever e.g. im playing gta iv and my friend is playing fifa10. all these new things would be a big advantage for ps3

  • bizzboy-0 says:

yh dis is gdddddd we need it ps3 seems to be going down a bit lets get dis to move it upp i say we try get virgin aswell if possible

  • IM DA BEST says:

if virgin was on ps3 i would be on that everyday, but if this was to ever happen sony should not make us pay for it like they did for playtv.we shouldn’t have to pay for it just susbscribe that would make more people want ps3.to be onest we should have playtv for free because if sky can get sky player for free y cnt we

  • phantom2k88 says:

the next update that sony brings out for ps3 better be worth it,ps3 users have been waiting a long time for a new update so we should get the most of this update.

  • phantom2k88 says:

forgot bout ps3 linking up with virgin they’ve already hooked up with one of the biggest rental companies so its nufffin. we need a new dashboard and to speed things up. i have 250gb ps3 slim and its still kind of slow and i don’t even have that many things on the system. i would expect it to be veryyyyyyy fast seeings as my hardrive is very big.sony should really consider putting a new dashboard in

woow this new ps3 update was really a waste of time.this is what sony spent so long trying to come up with. the pictues section is still basically the same its only landscape when u add the pictures to your playlist. the facebook application is alright at least now others can see what games have been downloaded n how many trophies they have. the friends id is a load of rubbish, changing the colour of your name doesn’t make anything fun.ps3 users waited couple of months for a new update and we were expecting for it to be brilliant and something worth while, but it was a waste of time wat a dissapointment.now im starting to think wheather i should get an xbox 360 even doe they pay for live they are getting the most of their console.
