Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles sales a disappointment
Capcom has expressed its “disappointment” over the sales of its on-rails shooter Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles, blaming a lack of demand for hardcore Wii games for its lucklustre showing.
Speaking about the zombie shooter’s sales Capcom France’s Antoine Seux told Gamekult that although sales “are not too bad” they “are below what we hoped.”
“After three weeks, we are a total of 16,000 units sold,” Seux said on December 23rd, going on to suggest that audiences have somewhat deserted the Wii as a destination for hardcore games.
“One feels that there is a problem very clear on this style of game on the Wii, where gamers are obviously moved on. There are two more years, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles had yet had a very very big success on Wii,” he said.
“Here we can see, the customer of this console has turned to something much broader audience. It is a disappointment.”
It’s not the first time a major franchise has dispointed on a Nintendo console. Nintendo earlier expressed its frustrations over sales of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the DS.
