Submitted by Stephen Ebert on February 6, 2010 – 4:51 pmOne Comment

Is Sonic appearing in Mario Galaxy 2?Last June Mario Bros. creator Shigeru Miyamoto promised that Super Mario Galaxy will be “99 per cent new.” Was one of those new things Sonic the Hedgehog? That’s the rumour.

Sega has been giving it the big heave-ho recently by announcing an all-new 2D Sonic adventure but it looks as if the blue mascot could be sprinting back to the realm of 3D in Super Mario Galaxy, according to NGamer’s Twitter profile.

“We’ve just had some shocking news from an inside source at Nintendo: Sonic will be a playable character in Mario Galaxy 2! Wha?” – the tweet read.

Later on the mag revealed went as far as to reveal where we’ll see Sonic.

“More teasing from our insider: Sonic levels will be in ‘Green Hill Galaxy’ with the following Tweet:

If true it won’t be the first time Sonic has appeared in a game with the Brooklyn plumber (see Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games). But a dedicated Mario title. That’s another story.

How do you feel at the possibility of Sonic appearing in Mario Galaxy 2? Let us know.
