PS3 Slim shifts 40,000 UK units

Submitted by Joe Lee on September 9, 2009 – 4:08 pmNo Comment

PS3 Slim shifts 40,000 UK unitsEarlier it was revealed that PS3 sales shot up 1,000 percent. Now it’s been revealed that the PS3 Slim shifted 40,000 units in its first week of release in the UK.

Sales figures have yet to be officially released but MCV compiled the 40,000 figure after Sony revealed that week one sales of the PS3 Slim were 20 percent behind week one sales for the PS2 Slim.

And that figure is 40,000 units. Sony however has yet to comment on the educated guesswork.

Yesterday Sony was still overjoyed saying that sales of the PS3 Slim exceeded even their expectations and that the new lower price may prove a sufficient bargaining tool to convince gamers to choose the PS3 as their console of choice.

“A new price point and a new machine has proven a significant catalyst to help consumers make the move onto PS3,” Sony UK’s sales director Mark Howsen said earlier.
