This is called an excellent year: in 2021, the Japanese company achieved a record in terms of sales.
2021 was a more than prolific year for Capcom. The latter was able to count on two of these successful series to set a new sales record. With 25.8 million games distributedthe Japanese company has in fact achieved a figure superior business 35.9% to that made previously.
A very nice result to which the cult survival-horror saga contributed: resident Evil. And as proof, the latest opus (Resident Evil Village) has won over, since its launch in May, more than 5 million players. For its part, Resident Evil 7 still has the coast, with a million copies purchased in the year, bringing the number of total sales to more than 10 million.
But, it is especially Monster Hunter Rise which gets the prize, with its 8 million distributions on Switch only. Which will quickly evolve considering its recent release on computer as well as the arrival, next summer, of the Sunbreak DLC. A reputation that Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin does not enjoy, which touched 1.4 million players.
A record figure for Capcom therefore which is however still imperfect, since the fiscal year in question is still in progress and will only end March 31, 2021. So let’s wait and see where it ends.
