Alexandre Barrière takes over the famous casino of the same name
The Barrière group is undoubtedly a major player in the land-based casino industry in France. Indeed, it has been present in this sector for more than 110 years now and is currently the number 1 in terms of gross gaming revenue.
There is about to be a bit of a change at its head.
Alexandre Barrière, only 36 years old, is about to become the the brand new CEO of this operator. Thus, he will replace in this position his own father: Dominique Desseigne.
Expected changes at the head of the Barrière group
For several weeks now, rumors have been circulating about the change in leadership. Nevertheless, it has now become official: Alexandre Barrière will take over the group that bears his name. In a few days, he will become the new president of the Société de Participation Deauvillaise.
This is the family holding company that owns 60% of the Barrière group and 60.51% of the capital of Société Fermière du Casino Municipal de Cannes (SFCMC).
Alexandre Barrière will succeed his father Dominique Desseigne who will become the honorary chairman of the Barrière group. As this has always been a family affair, we will not be surprised to learn that Joy Desseigne-Barrière will be appointed to the presidency of the board of directors of SFCMC and the Société Immobilière et d’Exploitation de l’Hôtel Majestic (SIEHM). Indeed, she is the daughter of Dominique Desseigne and the sister of Alexandre Barrière. She is 32 years old.

More changes to come at Barrière
To accompany this transfer of power smoothly, a new general manager will also be recruited. We’re talking about Gregory Rabuel, who previously held the same position at SFR and Altice.
In addition, the family holding company is said to be finalizing discussions for the purchase of the shares of Fimalac. Indeed, this holding of businessman Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière currently owns 40% of the capital of the Barrière group, which it had acquired from the Accor group.
About the Barrière group
The Barrière Group owns a gaming club in Paris and 32 land-based casinos in France, Switzerland, Egypt and the Ivory Coast. As a bonus, it owns no less than 19 luxury hotels such as the Normandy in Deauville or the Majestic in Cannes and more than 140 restaurants including those of the Fouquet’s brand.
The latter is present in Paris, for example, but also in Abu Dhabi and New York and soon in Dubai. In addition to numerous bars, the Barrière group also owns 3 golf courses, spas and the tennis country club in La Baule, among others.
At present, it employs about 6,500 people worldwide and its turnover amounted to 1.3 billion euros in the year 2022.
