It was only a rumor but it’s now official: the Mafia series will have the right to a sequel made by Hangar 13 and 2K Games.

After a slight teasing on social networks, 2K Games took advantage of the night to throw the info that everyone was waiting for: Mafia 4 is well under construction! The GTA-Like game series in the world of the Mafia of the 20s seemed to have retired with Mafia III 8 years ago. In the meantime, the editor had gratified us with a Mafia: Definitive Edition that we had greatly appreciated.

The announcement was made directly on the official blog of the series, on the occasion of a special interview for the 20th anniversary of the license. Roman Hladik, the general manager of Hangar 13, explains thus:

I’m happy to confirm that we’ve started working on a brand new Mafia! While it will be a few more years and we can’t say much more at this time, we’re excited to continue working on this franchise that we love, and to bring our players brand new stories.

At this point, we don’t know anything about the future of this license, but given that the series has taken us all the way back to the 1960s, it would not be impossible to discover a Mafia game in the 80s. What to see a kind of Scarface 2 never released and of which many leaks appeared recently?
