The Sonic license still has a good life ahead of it. Besides Frontiers which should arrive later this year, another game is obviously in the pipeline.

It’s a job offer on the GamesIndustry.biz website that let the cat out of the bag. Sega-founded studio Hardlight is looking for a Lead Artist for its upcoming mobile game Sonic. Yes, we’re not dealing with Team Sonic, but with the developers of many of the franchise’s games, most of which are dedicated to smartphones, such as Sonic Dash or Sonic Racing.

Nothing to put under the tooth?

To be honest, there are not many clues about the identity of the software yet. The studio wants to create a narrative platform game that is both exciting and ambitious despite the restrictions of mobile:

You will understand the limitations of a mobile game while seeking a level of quality that would approach that of consoles. As a member of Sega, you enjoy and have experience in creating stylish art, exciting worlds and colorful characters.

This is a colorful universe that awaits us. However, given the description of the offer, it seems unlikely that we will have the right to a racing game again. Are we dealing with the studio’s biggest production to date? No way to know at the moment, but we’ll keep you posted.
