More than 5 years after the last rumor about it, a podcast host talks about the possibility of bringing back the military tactics franchise with a new episode on PlayStation.

The former editor from IGN and now host of the Sacred Symbols podcast affirms it as a truth: “SOCOM will come back”. On his discord, the man was asked about a possible revival of the famous franchise of playstation military tactics and according to him, there is no doubt.

However, nothing suggests for the moment that Sony would like a return, at least in the short term, of the saga of Zipper Interactive. The studio was bought in 2006 by SCE (now SIE) but the subsidiary closed in 2012. Some episodes were also developed by the Canadian Slant Six Games, whichdisappeared in 2013.

The latest installment, SOCOM: Special Forces, will celebrate its 11 years old in some months. Since then, no clue about a possible return. But since Sony plans to make a lot of service games until 2026, Could SOCOM be part of it? We will need a little more than guesswork to ensure that.
