The small career of Sonic in the cinema will continue beyond the second opus expected for the month of April. His universe will even extend to television.

After 30 years of existence, sonic is still very much present in the small video game world. Moreover, its reappearance is not too distant. It was in September 2021 with the Sonic Colors: Ultimate remaster. But, it is at the end of the year that the little hedgehog will really come back with the intention of revolutionizing his series. By trying to conform, or at least by taking inspiration from Breath of the Wild, Sonic Frontiers – announced during the Game Awards 2021 – will try to offer a pleasant open-world adventure.

In the meantime, Sega’s mascot won’t just sit in a corner twiddling his thumbs. The cinema awaits him. It is that, since 2020, the character all dressed in blue has become a real Hollywood star. He liked his first time so much that he will happily dive back in April for a second episode.

But that is still not enough for him. Haruki Satomithe CEO of Sega, welcomed the announcement via a tweet: a third film as well as a live series are also planned by Paramount.

We are thrilled to announce that the third Sonic theatrical film and first live-action Sonic series for Paramount+ are actively in development. We have a remarkable partnership with Paramount, and we’re excited to continue to grow the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise with them.

The production for the small screen, for the Paramount+ platform more precisely, will feature Sonic’s main rival: Knuckles, whose first appearance will be on April 8 with the second film. Idris Elba will then lend him his voice.
