It’s Activision’s turn to take stock of its finances, revenue in the green mainly using microtransactions.
Activision-Blizzard, Microsoft’s new goose, can claim to be a prolific company if the latest results are to be believed. In all and for all, the year 2021 brought in no less than 8.8 billion dollars in revenuea record for the box, even if it made headlines all past year for stories of harassment.
And if Activision-blizzard made such a figure it’s not so much thanks to the sale of its games, since, for example, Call of Duty Vanguard did not sell so well, but it’s mostly the microtransactions that pay off bigvery big even.
They alone generate no less than 5.1 billion dollars. It must be said that all the mobile applications of King, Warzone, Call of Duty Mobile, World of Warcraft or Overwatch fuel with microtransactions, mostly cosmetic or in the form of boosters (excluding mobile games) and therefore completely optional, please note this.
The strategy of offering purely cosmetic content in games that are basically free or paid, and stuffed with content most of the time, is therefore not about to end.
Do you miss the DLC map packs, or are you fine with the accessory microtransactions? I think I know the answer and it’s not part of the proposals is it?
