The Marvel Universe is as big as the galaxy, and with the third installment of No Way Home coming out, the former Sony Pictures producer is announcing three new episodes in production, including one with Tom Holland.
The MCU Phase 4 will be very long, and should rely heavily on the Friendly Neighborhood Hero of the Avengers. Former Sony Pictures producer Amy pascal, still in charge of the license, confirmed on Fandango that the company expected at least one new trilogy around the adventures of Spider-Man for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
And among these three episodes, Tom Holland has already signed to resume the costume of the spider in the next one.
This isn’t the last movie we’re going to do with Marvel – [ce n’est pas] the latest spider-man movie […] we’re getting ready to do the next Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland and Marvel. We consider these to be three films. This isn’t the last of our MCU movies
The Marvel universe will also be a little more connected with the Sony cinematographic universe (who owns the licenses to Spider-Man and Venom) going forward, setting up a greater entanglement of the two old continuities, as was long envisioned. The new film Venom also goes in this direction.
Should we expect Morbius, Kraven, or Spider-Woman in the MCU in the future? Not necessarily, but the additional universes will remain in good coherence with the now canon MCU universe who fully integrated the (new) adventures of Spidey.
Well, there’s the Marvel universe, which is a container, then there’s the Spider-Verse movies, which are different, and then there’s the other universe that the Sony characters are in. We are all very respectful of each other, we work together and make sure that we are just adding up.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released on December 15.
