Fawzi Mesmar, chief designer of the new game in the Battlefield franchise, waited for the game’s release to announce his departure to his colleagues.

After a launch that we will not qualify as a failure even if it is undoubtedly well below the expectations of its publisher (re-read our test elsewhere), Battlefield 2042 is affected by a new small road exit.

Fawzi Mesmar, design director for the game, announced his departure from DICE, reveals VGC. The man had also worked on other episodes of the franchise and the Star Wars: Battlefront license. In an email sent to members of his team, he gives the reasons for this resignation:

It has been an absolute pleasure serving on the best design teams in the galaxy. The incredible design work you do continues to inspire me every day. Thank you for trusting me, I hope not to have disappointed. […]

I was made an offer I couldn’t refuse at another company that was kind enough to wait for me until we released (Battlefield 2042). It was super important for me to be here with the team as we take this historic milestone.

Although this departure is not associated with the release of the game, it must be admitted that this announcement falls badly during the period of Operation Seduction for the new war game.

Mesmar’s next post will be based in Stockholm, although the name of the new company has not been released. The name of his successor should be revealed soon.
