Battlefield 2042 takes advantage of the 4.1 patch notes to announce some good news about its first season.

The FPS from EA and DICE is not dead yet and it intends to stay around for a while, at least while the developers prepare the next opus. In the meantime, the software is doing everything it can to raise its head and it should soon move up a gear.

Battlefield 2042 will have a season 1 finally?

Battlefield 2042 is indeed taking advantage of this new patch to announce that its season 1 will not wait for the summer and will be released in early June. On the other hand, no precise date has been given for the moment and the devs tell us that they will give more details in the coming days.

However, we can normally expect to see a new map, a new agent, weapons and a battle pass full of cosmetics. Finally, this is what is normally expected.

As a reminder, basic, Battlefield 2042 had indeed announced no less than 4 seasons of 3 months during the year 2022, which each time had to add a new card, a new operator and a battle pass. Except that with such a chaotic start, DICE had made the decision to postpone its very first season twice and have fallen quite a bit behind now. It remains to be seen whether the initial promises will be kept.

Patch 4.1, on the other hand, only focuses on balancing and changes the rotation of game modes. Here too we will have to wait until early June, DICE having announced a larger patch to come.

Fashions

In this update, we are making several changes to All-Out Warfare rotations. Our main change is the removal of the 128 player version of Breakthrough. When we looked at the experiences available in All-Out Warfare, we noticed that the 128-player version was more suited to Conquest mode and its vast spaces, which lends itself better to the sandbox dimension.

In 128-player Breakthrough mode, a player’s or squad’s usefulness and impact on the flow of the game is limited by the intensity of the chaos.

We concluded that the 64-player version of Breakthrough represented a more tactical experience. Reducing the number of players helps alleviate the chaos of the experience, and with fewer combat vehicles available, you’ll be able to hold the front line more effectively. You will also have more space to work together and fulfill your individual function.

So in Breakthrough 64, it will be easier for squads to cooperate, whether that’s outflanking the enemy, planting a respawn beacon, or using the menu to set up silencers before securing and holding a point. A squad will be able to turn the tide of battle. We think limiting Breakthrough to 64 players will restore the rhythm that promotes teamwork and goal play. We will continue to investigate how our changes improve the experience before the start of Season 1.
