Last January, PlayStation announced the acquisition of Bungie. However, it still had to be validated. It is now done.
At the beginning of the year, Sony bought the studio that created Halo and the Destiny series for a sum of more than a billion dollars. However, this acquisition had yet to be validated. And now it’s done: Bungie can now congratulate itself for belonging to the big family of Sony Interactive Entertainment and thus follow in the footsteps of Jade Raymond’s studio (Haven), which was only able to announce itself officially very recently.
A new title in the Destiny universe?
In a statement, Bungie has assured to continue to “publish independently”. This should reassure those who still feared that the studio would become exclusive to the Japanese company. In addition, through the same message, Bungie took the opportunity to invite anyone interested to join his team for Destiny 2, but also to prepare the creations to come.
By the way, by going to this famous job listing, we can have some indications about the upcoming projects. If some of them concern new IPs, including a title in view of TPS, another one (the position of Senior Concept Artist) has, it seems, a relation with Destiny. It would indeed be a question of a competitive game anchored in the same temporality. Now, it remains to be seen what it is exactly.
