SVOD service Crunchyroll, already rich in anime, now welcomes catalogs from Wakanim and Funimation.
From now on, she will be alone: the platform of SVOD Crunchyrollfreshly landed on the Nintendo Switch, absorbs the catalogs of Wakanim and Funimation. The first arrivals should not delay. Incidentally, the company will soon release, around 6 p.m. (to follow on the page Twitter), the list of the first titles concerned.
Thus, the catalog already quite loaded with Crunchyroll – which features anime such as Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece or Gintama – will be joined by many other series or films. Among them, we particularly think of the qualitative frankness of the Monogatari Seriesalthough it may be in lack of popularity.
Their accessibility will be under the same conditions as at present. Subscription prices remain (for now?) the same. New subscribers, having already declared their loyalty to the media concerned by this absorption, will see themselves award 60 days of Crunchyroll Premium free. A FAQ has also been posted to provide further information.
This merger is not surprising. Few months ago (in the summer of 2021) Crunchyroll had passed under the dome of Sony, which was already the owner of Funimation and Wakanim.
