LucasFilms and EA announce a new Star Wars Jedi game and entrust it to Respawn, which also formalizes the creation of an FPS and a strategy game with big names in the industry.
It’s now official, Respawn will return to command a new Star Wars game for EA. After several months of research for new collaborators, for “a new IP”, which starts from scratch and visibly solo, after rumors for a Jedi Fallen Order 2 which seemed inevitable and after the loss of its creative director, the studio brings fresh news that will delight fans of the license.
Three new games are official by EA, including an new Star Wars Jedi directed by Stig Asmussen (ex-Santa Monica Studio and director of the first opus). Second project, an FPS that will be developed within a new branch of Respawn led by Peter Hirschmann, responsible for the magnificent VR game Medal of Honor: Above & Beyond and worked for LucasArts in the good old days (he was notably producer of the Star Wars Battlefront originals).
Finally, the artistic director of the latest XCOMs, Greg Foertsch, will collaborate with Respawn, via its brand new Bit Reactor studio, to offer a new strategy game, explains general manager Vince Zampella.
As a reminder, Star Wars will also return in the years to come (but don’t be in a hurry) thanks to Quantic Dream and its Star Wars Eclipse.
