A true personality who forever marked the history of versus fighting with Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon will soon join the video game Hall of Fame.
How far are the pinball machines that dear Ed Boon was working on at the start of his career. Now it has become one of the most influential personalities in video games, in particular thanks to its flagship license, Mortal Kombat, whose 12th episode would have been leaked.
30 years ago, Ed Boon and John Tobias released their first baby on an arcade machine and since then, if Tobias left on his side at the end of the 90s, Ed Boon never let go of the license. On the contrary, he pampered her and even managed to blow her up so much that Mortal Kombat is currently the best-selling fighting game franchise of all time., ahead of series like Street Fighter or Tekken.
So it’s no wonder to see the creator being hailed for his work and the impact he’s had in the industry. It is therefore at this year’s DICE Awards, which will take place on February 24, that the man will receive the title and enter the Hall of Fame.
He will thus join other strong personalities in the field, such as Bonnie Ross (343 Industries), Todd Howard (The Elder Scrolls, Fallout), Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear, Death Stranding) or even Dan and Sam Houser (GTA, Red Dead Redemption).
