The American studio will not offer a conference on the sidelines of E3 as it does every year. EA could move in the future towards a sporadic format à la Nintendo Direct or State of Play.
Possible end clap for the EA Play Live conference, which for a few years had been a bit apart from E3. In a statement sent to IGNthe publisher announces that for this year 2022, there will be no showcase as usualhighlighting scheduling issues.
We love EA Play Live as a way to connect with players to share everything we have back home. However, this year things don’t line up enough for us to show you everything in one date. We have some exciting things happening in our world-renowned studios, and this year we’ll be revealing a lot more about those projects when the time is right for each one. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year
In other words, the main projects will probably not be advanced enough by the summer to allow the conference to be as substantial as the studio would like. So it would seem that Electronic Arts will focus on other more traditional conferences over timeas Sony can already do with its State of Play, or Nintendo with the Nintendo Direct.
As there will no doubt be no EA conference at E3 2022 (this year online)the publisher could also choose Microsoft’s format, which provides for an independent conference in parallel with the event.
