There were rumors lately about remasters for GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption, but it seems that this is not the case anymore. The information has been confirmed by Kotaku.
Just yesterday, a reputable insider in all things Grand Theft Auto announced that remasters for the fourth installment of the cult series and Red Dead Redemption were indeed planned by Rockstar, as rumors had it. However, it seems that the studio finally had to review its plans.
GTA 6 and nothing else
Indeed, according to the user Twitter Tez2such projects had been considered for a while by Rockstar. However, it seems that the very bad reception of the GTA trilogy released last year has had reason for these desires. And, for the American studio, there is now only one thing in mind: put all the chances on its side not to miss with GTA VI.
So is it really the failure of the previous remasters that caused such a decision? Probably. In any case, the studio wants the public to forget about the “incident”, as sources questioned by Kotaku would have confirmed, which also, it seems, endorsed the other information: yes, Rockstar is indeed willing to devote all its time and resources to the next GTA game, whose development was confirmed earlier this year.
However, all doors to possible remakes or remasters are not entirely closed. We’ll just have to wait until the big one, GTA 6, is done with its development.
As per a reliable source with clear accuracy on Rockstar plans, remasters of GTA IV & RDR1 were on the table a few years ago, but Rockstar chose not to proceed with the projects in mind.
The poor reception of the Trilogy DE might be a reason behind that decision.#GTAIV #RDR1
