The new Haven Studio confirms a project for a large-scale “persistent and scalable” game in exclusive console on PS5. And even more: Sony would have ordered two other titles from Jade Raymond.
Haven Studios, the studio of Jade Raymond, founded after her departure from Stadia, has been on a big project with PlayStation for almost a year. Several sources had already confirmed a multiplayer service game normally console exclusive from Sony. It is now official, since the Canadian producer has given news of this new title.
In an interview with The dutythe founders of the studio say they are on a “persistent and scalable online environment accessible by PC or PlayStation consolelike another popular Montreal online game, but produced by Ubisoft this one, called Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege.
A logical inspiration, Raymond having formed a team of veterans of the French studio, whose Toronto branch was under his command in the late 2000s. For this new project in partnership with PlayStation, Haven will also be able to count on the Californian designer Mark Cerny“architect of the PS5”.
Our ambition will be to further push the technical capabilities of the console […] We will have the opportunity to work with people at Sony who are among the best in the world in their field. This will allow us to create the best quality games
Another interesting revelation from the interview, Jade Raymond explains that she has not one but three projects with Sony. The publisher has indeed requested three ideas from the former boss of Stadia Games, to finance the best. In the end, the studio wants to do “two or even three” but Haven decided to focus “on a first title to start”. There is no doubt that this first title is one of the 10 GaaS in Sony’s pipes.
