Officialized during the opening night of the Summer Game Fest 2022, Layers of Fears comes back to the gamescom to present some gameplay elements.
First teased by Bloober Team and then announced a few days later at the Summer Game Fest, Layers of Fears is now taking advantage of the Cologne trade show to show us a little more about what it will offer when it is released in early 2023 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
A gameplay to make you shiver
As a reminder, this Layers of Fearsmade with Unreal Engine 5, intends to reinterpret the events that took place in the two previous opuses. So there will logically be well known things. Only, the angle with which they will be approached should evolve somewhat. Among these things, new content is obviously expected. Here is what a description says about it:
Layers of Fears is a first-person psychological horror game set in the early 20th century that explores the lives and tragedies of a family plagued by madness and their slow descent into dementia. It is a journey heavily influenced by the many aspects of art, starting with Victorian painting and slowly opening up to the worlds of music and film. This game builds on the foundation of the previous installments in the franchise and reimagines the overall narrative structure that ties them all together. Layers of Fears will serve as a focal point where the revised stories of Layers of Fear and Layers of Fear 2 will merge into one unified experience, enriched by the addition of new original chapters.

The trailer in question gives more exactly an overview on “The Final Note”, one of the new plots that the psychological horror game will offer. This one centers on the artist’s wife. And, with the minutes now shared, we have the opportunity to see a little more of what game experience will provide us Bloober Team.
One thing is sure, it makes you shiver slightly. It must be said thathe artistic direction and even the sound ambiance are there to bring us to fear. After that, will it become a reality? We’ll see when it’s released, which is not yet fixed.
