The game of The Chinese Room (Dear Esther), in which the player embodies a Soviet cosmonaut, has been postponed to an indefinite date.
To show its support for Ukraine, the video game world is mobilizing in different ways: there are some who provide financial support (Wargaming.net, CD Project…) and others who decide to suspend the release of their creation having a resonance with current events. Finally, it is especially true for a title.
Little Orpheus was supposed to release this 1st of March on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch and PC. However, given the current situation, this war in Ukraine initiated by the Russian government, the English developer The Chinese Room (Dear Esther) and the publisher Secret Mode have decided to postpone its release indefinitely.
Secret Fashionwhich communicated the announcement, made known the reason for this postponement:
Due to recent world events, the launch of Little Orpheus on PC and console will be delayed.
Although Little Orpheus was originally released on Apple Arcade in June 2020 and while it does not directly reference recent world events, we recognize that some game themes and content may be upsetting for players at this time..
We thank you for your understanding and we will share information later.
The title, available from 2020 on the Apple Arcade, proposes to embody a Soviet cosmonaut who resurfaces after 3 years of disappearance. On his return, the latter who swears to have saved the world is taken on board by the authorities and questioned about the loss of the nuclear weapon which powered his ship, the Little Orpheus.
