With its release on PC, Marvel’s Spider-Man has revealed one of its secrets and hints at the hope of a game mode for its next episode.

Like Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War before it, Marvel’s Spider-Man has arrived on PC in a beautiful Remastered version. But PC also means access to the game’s files, and some clever people have had a field day discovering a game mode that was obviously cancelled in the editing process.

Co-op and competitive multiplayer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?

A Twitter user has indeed discovered several .exe files referring to a multiplayer and cooperative mode. It was obviously intended to give players the opportunity to play as Peter Parker and Miles Morales in a single session accompanied by a comrade;
Apparently, a competitive game mode was also part of the gamealthough it could also be simple mini-games designed to put the two spidey in friendly competition. In any case multiplayer was planned, but seems to have been left out shortly before the release of the game.

Nevertheless, these new elements cast doubt on the arrival of such game modes in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The two Spider-Man are expected to cooperate in this next episode and will have to face many enemies, including Venom, the symbiote and long-time opponent of Spider-Man;
It remains to be seen whether or not it will be possible to play the game with two players.. Wait and See as they say.
