The arrival of a new tennis game can only arouse our curiosity, but will it be able to replace Top Spin in the hearts of players?
Developed by Torus Games and published by Kalypso Media, Matchpoint: Tennis Championships sets out to restore tennis to video game form. It is true that since Top Spin 4 in 2011, there has not really been a change in this area, the few attempts made having proven to be well below the model.
Waited for the spring 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Switch, Matchpoint: Tennis Championships will try its luck by offering upgraded graphics, in particular by exploiting the full potential of new consoles and PCs equipped with the latest generation graphics cards.
The title will also focus on neat animations, as can be seen in the trailer below, and on its physics engine, in particular for the rebounds of the ball, as well as on a gameplay where the player positioning will be essential.
Can be played solo or in multiplayer, with a career mode implementing a rivalry system, the game will have 16 international tennis players accessible at launch: Medvedev, Muguruza, Rublev, Ruud, Hurkaczs, Kyrgios, Paire, Watson, Gaston, Keys, Azarenka, Alcaraz, Carreno Busta, Fritz, Anisimova and Nishikori.
Note, however, theabsence of the biggest stars probably too expensive. But in order to bring in a few brouzoufs, while making it more realistic, the brands like Nike, Head or Uniqlo they will be present in the game.
