The latest installment in the Metroid series has just received a new update, which notably adds three game modes.

The recent Metroid Dread just got a new update. With this patch 2.1.0which brings in particular a correction to a bug, the title stamped Nintendo and developed by MercurySteam can now claim three new game modes.

However, their access is subject to certain conditions. Thus to approach the mode “Boss Rush”it will be necessary to have finished the game. Once completed, the latter will offer the possibility of trying “Survival Rush”. And, for fashion “Dread Rush”the only imperative is to have completed the main campaign on maximum difficulty, either by Dread-style.

New modes added

Three different boss race modes have been added to the game. Press the R button in the “Samus Files” screen to switch to the boss selection screen.

Boss Rush

  • A mode in which players fight 12 bosses continuously and try to achieve the best time.
  • All damage received is carried over to the next fight. Weapons are fully restored between fights.
  • If Samus is defeated, players can select “Retry” to resume play at the start of the fight they lost. There is, however, a time penalty for being defeated.
  • Bosses fought in Boss Rush can be fought one-on-one at any time by selecting “Training”.
  • Unlocked by completing the main game once. (In case a player completed the game before the update, they will be able to play Boss Rush immediately after the update).
  • Survival Rush

  • This mode allows players to see how many bosses they can defeat in the allotted time of 5 minutes.
  • Any damage received or weapons spent carry over to the next battle. Even if there is time left, defeating Samus will result in a game over.
  • Defeating a boss will add a fixed time to the countdown. Defeat a boss without taking any damage to gain an even bigger time bonus.
  • The Survival Rush is unlocked by completing Boss Rush or Dread Rush.
  • Dread Rush

  • The basic rules are the same as in Boss Rush, but if Samus is hit by a boss, her energy drops to zero and she is defeated.
  • Bosses fought in Dread Rush can be fought one-on-one at any time by selecting “Practice”.
  • Unlocked by completing the main game in Dread mode. (In case a player completed Dread Mode before the update was released, they will be able to play Dread Rush immediately after the update).
  • General fixes

Fixed an error where the Game Over screen would not display correctly when Samus took damage and was defeated immediately after destroying a CPU.
