The boss of Microsoft Gaming would be interested in reviving old licenses from the Activision group, including famous franchises from the 90s.
During the takeover of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft, players were able to discover a list as long as a day without bread of old licenses, some quite well known, others less, but above all mostly untapped.
Among the most popular are the Spyro or Crash Bandicoot, games which no longer had a future within the group and which will have, without a doubt, right to a reboot within the new parent company (right Aaron?)
But retrogamers will be happy to hear that Phil Spencer, new general manager of the Microsoft Gaming branch, is a fan of all these old lost licenses.
I was looking at the list of games, and frankly let’s go! King’s Quest, Guitar Hero… I should know, but I think they have Hexen too. I see some very nice names. Once the deal is done, hopefully we can allocate resources to the revivals of my childhood franchises, and their teams are up for it. I look forward to having these discussions with them
As many names as he dropped in the course of a conversation with the washington post Start of the week, which gives hope for a revival of major franchises, notably obtained by Activision at the time when the studio merged with Vivendi Games, and by extension, the late Sierra On-Line.
As a reminder, the ABK group also has IPs such as True Crime, Police Quest/SWAT or Pitfall!
