SIE San Diego has made official the new baseball game of its franchise, with a release date, the name of the ambassador but also a big novelty for the players.
After a 2021 episode which was above all marked by a mini-event -the license developed by SIE San Diego was released for the first time on Xbox- the PlayStation studio has revealed the first images of its opus MLB The Show 22.
Scheduled for April 5, 2022, it will come out again on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series, but also for the first time on the Switch, proof that the game has definitely become multi-platform. On Xbox, it will be day one on the Xbox Game Pass. We will meet there this year Shohei Ohtani on the cover.
According to Wikipedia, a mecca of world culture with absolute and total veracity, it is a Japanese pitcher and outfielder of the LA Angels. The 27-year-old is the first Asian athlete to find himself on a cover art of a major sports game in the USA, according to the North American media. On ESPN, he explains:
I was very excited about this possibility and it came true. This sport has a lot of history. This baseball game is also one of the few in existence, so it inspires me to improve on the field and meet expectations. […] I’m sure there are some who like video games, but don’t watch the games. Then there is the opposite, those who follow the games without being interested in video games. So I’m trying to bring popularity back and set an example for those who know baseball.
The game will have crossplay and crossprogression on platforms, and promises a revamped Diamond Dynasty mode. The Stadium Creator will also return, along with an MVP Collector’s Edition that will allow PS4 and Xbox One owners to get a free generation update. Otherwise, it will be 10 euros more.
