The next installments of Call of Duty are once again talking about them and many details have just fallen.
Just last Wednesday, we reported to you that Infinity Ward was carrying out a serious overhaul of Activision’s battle royale with Warzone 2. Information that the highly reputable Tom Henderson confirms and details further.
Iconic Maps Return to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2
After the NerosCinema video, Henderson says he consulted his own sources and can therefore confirm almost everything the previous insider had said in his video. He comes, however, to bring many details regarding the maps of Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2, as well as how Strongholds work and the appearance of the DMZ game mode.
According to him, the next two games will include iconic maps from Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2009) such as Terminal, Afghan, Carrière or even Favelas. In Warzone 2, as in BlackOut, it would therefore be possible to find multiplayer maps as points of interest directly integrated into the environment. In addition, its cards would also be available on Modern Warfare 2. A practice which aims to capitalize on the nostalgia of the players and which has already been seen before in the saga, and all the more since the games take advantage of new completely free content. .
Bastions, the new PvPvE experience of battle royale
Tom Henderson also claims that Bastions, fortresses, will indeed be part of the new Warzone experience. These strongholds would therefore replace the famous Warzone shops and would require players to complete objectives to get their hands on rare and powerful loot.
Henderson further adds that these new Bastions would be points of interest in their own right that would provoke a real arms race insofar as, once a player has taken the Bastion, no one will be able to come there afterwards. According to him, AI will also have a prominent place in this new concept and should even be much more present on the map. All of this reminds us above all of the camps and armories of Apex Legends.
DMZ, the new big chunk of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2?
As a bonus, Tom Henderson returns to talk to us about DMZ, an XXL game mode confronting several teams of players having to infiltrate a large map, loot everything they can, then get out of it. A mode that echoes the Hazard Zone of Battlefield 2042. According to the insider, DMZ should also share the same map as Warzone 2, but would however be overrun by an AI-controlled enemy faction. The exact operation of this game mode is not yet really known, but Henderson assures us in any case that the new Warzone 2 map has been designed to fit perfectly with the battle royale and the new DMZ mode.
Obviously, we will have to wait for Activision and its studios to decide to show us their games to find out for sure, however, all its rumors, more or less verified, announce a rather generous menu. What if Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 were finally revolutions as announced by Activision?
