It hasn’t even been a day since the MultiVersus fighting game was released and it is already reaching dizzying heights.

Just on Tuesday, the free-to-play fighting game kicked off its open beta with great fanfare. The time had finally come for the community to have their favorite cartoon characters fight in the same arena. And it’s safe to say that it was a busy time.

Batman’s got to watch out

For good reason, at the end of the first night, the game had reached a peak of 144,456 players, putting it ahead of games like Apex Legends which had 118,887. To give you another example, MultiVersus’ peak was the seventh largest on Steam, surpassing many behemoths such as Monster Hunter Rise or Ark: Survival Evolved.

These numbers far exceed those of other combat-oriented productions released on the Steam platform. Among others, the highest peak of players for Dragon Ball FighterZ was 44,234. As for Mortal Kombat 11, it had reached 35,147. So this is a record broken with a nice margin, but it is mostly to be qualified. Let’s not forget that we are dealing with a free game, unlike most of the titles mentioned above.

If you are tempted by the experience, MultiVersus is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series. Cross-play is of course supported. Also be aware that Season 1 will launch on August 9 and will be accompanied by the arrival of Morty.
