One of the key events in the video game world has just learned of the absence of the Japanese company this year.
Visitors to the Gamescon 2022which will take place in Cologne, will not be able to visit the Nintendo booth this year. Indeed, one of the spokespersons for Nintendo Europe said to Games Wirtschaft that the group would not participate in the show.
“Gamescom is a key event in Nintendo’s event calendar.” […] This year, however, after careful consideration, we have decided not to participate in Cologne.”“Instead, players will be able to try out the games for Nintendo Switch at numerous events throughout Germany. “For fans of Japan and video games, we decided to participate in the Main Matsuri Japan Festival in Frankfurt as well as the DoKomi in Düsseldorf and the AnimagiC in Mannheim. Other stops and activities are planned. We look forward to seeing our fans again at many regional events.”
The reasons for Nintendo’s absence are not specified but will still taint this long-awaited event.
The Gamescom 2022 will take place from August 24 to 28 and will have the specificity of take place on site but also live on the internet. The launch of the event will take place during the Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 23. The following day will provide access to professional visitors, as well as to the press and content creators. Visitors, on the other hand, can stroll in the living room from August 25.
