Las Vegas Grand Prix: Not enough parking for private jets
The Las Vegas 2023 Formula 1 Grand Prix will take place between the November 16 and 18.
It is expected to attract a huge number of fans to the famous Nevada city. A large number of private jets in particular are expected.
Some analysts estimate that there could potentially be hundreds of jets.
As a result, there may not be enough parking to accommodate them all.
A discipline that attracts a lot of big money
According to Applied Analysis senior analyst Jeremy Aguiero, the Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix will attract a lot of extremely wealthy fans. As a result, the city is set to see a massive influx of private jets, probably the biggest in its history.
That’s why he thinks some people will have to park far away. He mentions Phoenix in the state of Arizona without joking.
Formula 1 is a sport that particularly attracts the world’s richest people. Many Hollywood stars, for example, follow the championship closely.
They include Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Matthew McConaughey. Many wealthy businessmen are also fans. These include Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Richard Branson.
It’s also worth noting that the various owners of the competing teams are also expected to fly in on private jets. The same goes for most of the drivers.
Expansions underway at Henderson and Las Vegas airports
In order to meet what is likely to be historic demand, the Clark County Aviation Department recently launched construction of an approximately 7.2-hectare expansion ramp at Henderson Airport.
It is designed to accommodate up to 80 more private jets. It all depends, of course, on their size. As a result, up to 200 aircraft parking spaces will soon be available at Henderson Airport.
Harry Reid International Airport is also expanding. In future, it will accommodate an additional 5.6 hectares of parking to cope with the massive influx of private jets during the 2023 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Las Vegas.
Harry Reid International Airport’s Senior Director of Aviation (Jim Chrisley) recently announced that he and his teams were working on an expansion project for the 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas in February, when the F1 announcement was made.
It was thus decided to bring forward most of the preparations so that it would be ready for the famous race, which will take place in November.
Normally, private jet parking in Clark County costs $100 a night. However, these rates are set to rise for the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Las Vegas 2023 and the Super Bowl 2024.
