Pandemic Studios 1998-2009

1998 : Date the studio was founded by two Activision alumni. Note that it is thanks to the equity capital of Activision that the studio was born.

2000 : Andrew Payne and Adam Iarossi leave Los Angeles to go to Brisbane (Australia) to open a second Pandemic studio.

2003 : Pandemic is moving! The studio grows and decides to move to Santa Monica in more spacious premises.

May 13, 2005 : Midway terminates its financial agreement with Pandemic Studios. The reason ? The developers did not perform their tasks in accordance with the points stipulated in the contract. Pandemic’s response was not long in coming: the firm files a lawsuit against Midway in the Los Angeles Supreme Court.

November 3, 2005 : The company forms an alliance with Bioware while being supported by Elevation Partners and one of its creators John riccitiello (current CEO of EA). Thanks to this money the company is founded VG Holding Corp which now owns Bioware and Pandemic, which guarantees the financial stability and independence of the two studios. Firms can also keep their brands and licenses without worry.

October 11, 2007 : Announcement of the acquisition of VG Holding Corp by Electronic Arts which will take effect from January 2008.

January 7, 2008 : Pandemic Studios is officially an integral part of Electronic Arts, just like Bioware.

February 2009 : Following the development concerns of The Dark Knight, Pandemic Brisbane is released by EA. The studio will eventually close its doors.

November 18, 2009 : Electronic Arts is closing Pandemic Studios. Two hundred employees are laid off and the rest are absorbed into the workforce of EA Los Angeles (formerly DreamWorks Interactive LLC).
