PlayStation ready to buy new development studios

A statement from Jim Rayan, President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, suggests that the PlayStation Studios family will continue to grow. And they are currently in talks to buy other studios.

You don’t change a winning recipe. And besides PlayStation does not intend to be left behind by its natural rival Microsoftwhich had struck very hard by buying in particular Activision Blizzard (Call of Duty) or even Bethesda Game Studios (The Elder Scolls 6).

On his side, the Japanese firm does not seem tempted by a “panic buy” and meticulously builds its project by trying to expand its team of “house Avengers”, the PlayStation Studios, with for example the recent acquisition of the Jade Raymond’s development studio, Haven Studio. And it’s not over according to Jim Rayan, who believes that recent successes strengthen their position in the market, as evidenced by this statement:

We are in a very good position with PlayStation Studios and has been for several years. Critical success and commercial success games they have created… This enabled us to invest massively in content creation.

“We grow our studios organically and we grow by acquisition. We acquired five studios during 2021, we are in discussion with Bungie and have more planned. This brings us into a virtuous circle where success breeds success.”

It now remains to know who will come out of the hat, and for that, it will be necessary to be patient to find out. To your predictions.
