We suspected it, but nothing was confirmed until now, Eye Tracking will indeed be part of the technologies embedded in the PSVR 2.

Sony’s new VR headset is going all out and looking to offer an ultra-immersive experience. Alongside the haptic feedbackin the controllers and helmet, and the adaptive triggersnow adds theEye Tracking.

A new technology for even more immersion

This cutting-edge technology will be part of PSVR 2 thanks to the new partnership that Sony has signed with Tobii, a company specialized in the field. Eye Tracking allows, as its name suggests, to follow the eyes and would open many possibilities in terms of immersion and could even be used in the raw gameplay, now remains to be seen how. In any case, many titles like Horizon Call of the Mountain, should offer interesting things with this new feature.

PlayStation VR2 sets a new benchmark for immersive virtual reality (VR) entertainment and will allow millions of users around the world to experience the power of eye tracking. Our partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is the continued validation of Tobii’s advanced technological capabilities to deliver specialized solutions at mass market scale.

For now, Eye Tracking is still quite rare in consumer VR headsetsbut is gradually being deployed as with the Vive Pro Eye or the future Meta Quest Pro. The PSVR 2 could therefore strike a blow by offering this technology in a VR headset at an attractive price for the market.
