For its 26th anniversary, the great gathering of Bethesda will have to settle for an online event, again this year, next August.
This year again, QuakeCon 2022 will not return to the public in physical. Like last year, the big Bethesda event (owner of id Software) is announced online only, from August 18 to 20, 2022. Still no return to the site in Dallas therefore, and an organizer who says “like you, disappointed not to return to physics”:
An event of this size requires months of planning, and in this case, we had to make decisions while the situation was still uncertain as to the execution of a QuakeCon in physics. The QuakeCon team is already hard at work on a streaming schedule, online meetups, rewards, charity events, virtual BYOC and more, and we’ll announce details in June.
Bethesda now hopes return to an event in physics for 2023. It has now been since 2019 that the event, which celebrates its 26th anniversary this year, has not met its audience.
