The creator of Apex Legends and Titanfall is leaving Respawn Entertainment. A blow for the company, but which should not delay a future secret AAA project, a solo adventure for 2024 or 2025.
TitanFall and Apex Legends studio just lost its creative director. This week, Mohammad Alavi announced on Twitter his departure to the collaborators he has worked with since its creation in 2010, and even a little before, since he was one of the former Infinity Ward fired by Activision and who created the new company with EA in retaliation .
The one who designed the famous “No Russian” level from Modern Warfare 2 leaves for a “new adventure” without saying more about his aspirations. But for Respawn, it could have been a blow concerning the big game project expected in the studio.
(2/2) I’ve had the fortune of working & learning from the most talented devs and helping create franchises I’m very proud of (Titanfall and Apex Legends). Today’s bitter sweet: I’m excited about my next adventure, but I’m sad about leaving behind a family. It’s the end of an era.

According to relatives of Respawn contacted by Gamesbeat, EA is not going to change its plans, however.. The future new title of the studio is still set for a release in 2024 and 2025 and this departure should not deal a blow to the design of this AAA with the new and solo IP.
In the meantime, Respawn will release its Apex Legends Mobile, currently in closed early access. Jeff Grubb also recalls that a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, commissioned by EA, is also in the pipeline, even if the company has still not formalized what seems to be obvious.
