It’s official: Sony took advantage of our sleep to broadcast on its Twitter the release date of its new virtual reality headset. In three words. Simple, basic.
The information has been distilled here and there for several months and the official presentation of the characteristics of the virtual reality headset of Sony for its PS5. And, thanks to our legendary flair, we had announced a very likely release date for early 2023. The company listened to us to make its decision and confirms it today: PSVR 2 will be released “early 2023”.
What features for the PSVR 2?
A first official communication on the release date of the new next-generation portable headset. We also know that about twenty games will be offered at launch, and we know the characteristics of the beast and its final design. Replacing the PSVR, this new PSVR 2 for PS5 is one of the most interesting headsets on the market today.
While the HTC Vive Pro 2 displays for example two LCD screens of 2448×2448 pixels per eye for $800, the PSVR 2 will offer two 2000×2040 OLED optics for 4K HDR display at up to 120 fpsThat’s 30 fps faster than the best value on the market, the Quest 2. The Sony headset also features the eye tracking like the HP Reverb G2, the 3D audio technology Tempest of the PS5 and a “haptic feedback” in the headset.
All for a price that should be in the average of VR headsets, or 500€ maximum…
