After a postponement for 2022, Star Wars Hunters, an arena action game with a free-to-play model, has been postponed once again.
Decidedly, all is not rest for Star Wars: Hunters. Despite a first postponement to 2021we could think that history would not repeat itself since a first gameplay trailer was revealed last December by the studio Zynga.
Even better, the game had the right to be available in soft launch in some countries. It seemed to be on the right track to be released in 2022, but the reality is quite different. So, the software planned for mobile as well as Switch has once again been pushed back.
A necessary postponement
The final release of Star Wars: Hunters is now scheduled for 2023. The developers at NaturalMotion say it was a necessary decision to ensure the best possible arena multiplayer experience:
We are working tirelessly to realize our vision for Star Wars: Hunters. Our ambition is to create a competitive arena combat game that will entertain for years to come. To ensure that we meet the high expectations we set for fans around the world and for ourselves as developers, we have made the decision to delay the worldwide launch of Star Wars: Hunters.
We understand that game delays are frustrating, however, our top priority is to ensure players have the best possible experience in the arena.
So yes, this is far, far from happy news, especially for Star Wars aficionados. However, we must say that 2023 will be an excellent vintage for the franchise. Indeed, Hunters is not the only game in the license scheduled for release next year. Jedi: Survivor, the sequel to Fallen Order, will – normally – also be part of the game, as well as the remake of Knights of the Old Republic.
