The name of the game was revised on Steam in response to the Russian army’s assault on the country of the Ukrainian development studio.

We announced at the beginning of the month that GSC Game World had to resolve to pause the development of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl because of the war raging on the Ukrainian territory where the studio is located, but the project is not abandoned.

The title should therefore always come out on PCs and Xbox Seriesas well as on Day One on the Xbox Game Pass (console and PC), as soon as peace is restored and things can get back to normal, hoping that this will happen quickly.

In the meantime, we are no news from the developers since their last communication, but the game has been renamed on Steam now using Ukrainian spelling instead of Russian of the infamous Prypiat nuclear power plant which was then under the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

So we are now talking about STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl and no longer Heart of Chernobyl. The title has not been (at least for now) reviewed on Microsoft’s Xbox Game Store or the Epic Games Store, it is assumed that this is aa decision by Steam to pay tribute to Ukraine and show its opposition to the war led by Russia, like Playstation and many other players in the video game world.
