Theft of casino chips from Marina Bay Sands in Singapore
In the Marina Bay Sands hotel-casino in Singapore, there are 3 Chinese nationals who applied strong glue on the palm of their hand so as to steal casino chips from other customers.
Unfortunately for them, they were arrested by the police and then convicted by the courts.
Thus, they have just been sentenced to prison by a court of this city-state of Southeast Asia.
After losing big on their first day at Marina Bay Sands
The 3 convicts we are interested in through today’s news are Huang Chunsheng aged 50, Zheng Jiansheng aged 64 and Jiang Renjing aged 55. All of them have decided to plead guilty to the charges against them.
Via social visit visas that allow them to stay for 2 weeks, they were in Singapore without a return ticket to play at the casino. Only thing is, they lost a lot from the first day at Marina Bay Sands.
That’s when Huang Chunsheng hatched a plan to steal casino chips from other customers.
To carry out the plan, he bought 2 bottles of strong glue which he turned into eye drops. Zheng Jiansheng suffers from a disease that requires him to apply eye drops regularly.
Thus, this provided a perfect cover to get the strong glue into the playroom without any problems.
Arrested while entering Resorts World Sentosa after being discovered at Marina Bay Sands
The events of which our trio is accused began on March 6, 2023. Each of the members applied a small amount of strong glue to the palm of their hand. All they had to do was fly over a chip on a table to easily retrieve it.
For 5 days, the group used this technique successfully. But on March 11, Huang Chunsheng was finally caught red-handed when a suspect grabbed his hand and discovered the truth. He still managed to escape.
Nevertheless, he was too greedy. Indeed, with his 2 other accomplices, he decided to try his luck in the only other casino in Singapore: the Resorts World Sentosa. It is while penetrating in the gaming room that our 3 men were arrested.
Between 7 and 10 months in prison for the accused
During the trial, the prosecution insisted that the 3 players had premeditatedly set up a rather sophisticated theft technique. In their defense, they insisted that they were poorly educated men who had never left China before and that they had never been in trouble with the law.
Huang Chunsheng admitted to being the mastermind of the group. That is why he was sentenced to 8 months in prison. Jiang Renjing was only sentenced to 7 months.
On the other hand, Zheng Jiansheng was the one who stole the most. That’s why he was sentenced to 10 months in prison.
