The takeover of Codemasters by Electronic Arts seems to be a direct cause of this decision: two games from the Project CARS license are being discontinued.
Slightly Mad Studios is cleaning up its Project Cars series. While the next opus has still not been revealed, except via increasingly emphatic communications, the studio announces that the first two titles will soon be removed from the stores.
Sad exit for two titles that launched a real new important series for the world of car simu. We especially remember the graphic slap of the first title during the first tests in VR at Paris Games Week. But the developer, bought by Codemasters, and therefore now by EA Sports, has left a message that explains the reason.
Project CARS 4 or another game announced soon?
If it is not certain that the decision comes from above, we could deduce that the new owners did not wish to renew the expiring licenses for circuits and vehicleswhich will quietly let the game die of lack of content. “In the next few months”, it will be removed from the stores. However, the game will remain playable, including multiplayer, but will no longer be powered. This will be as of October 3 and September 21 respectively. As for the next game, it will be revealed “when the time is right”.
