Several sources would have confirmed that Ubisoft is working on a new Battle Royale type game, to replace the failed Hyper Scape.

Very sad to have known the failure with Hyper Scapefallen into oblivion and logically stopped at the beginning of the year, the thinking heads of Ubisoft would already be on the job with a new Third Person Battle Royaleaccording to several sources cited by Tom Henderson on his site.

The insider explains, however, that the genre will be a bit different since the gameplay will revolve around the battle between teams of 4 players who, released on a map, will have to reach the center to face the bossan operation that we have already heard several times on current projects, and which is particularly reminiscent of the leaks of the free-to-play The Division Heartland. With each generation of the map, the accesses would be different since the players will have to pass doors to open randomly to progress in a concentric way.

This new game, of which Pathfinder could be a code name, is indeed a PvPvE, with battles against player enemies before this final boss. Everything would be in production at Ubisoft Montreal and would include a system of choosing “Heroes” (with their own skills) for battle, perhaps like (yet) another free-to-play at Ubi, XDefiant or at Rainbow Six .

Henderson recalls Ubisoft’s comments following the announcement of the closure of Hyper Scape, hinting at the production of this new title:

We set out to create a vertical, close-up, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for supporting us on this journey. We will learn from this game for our future products.
