While the Assassin’s Creed saga was to end with this opus, a completely different end had been considered, changing the series.
There was a before and an after Assassin’s Creed III. Indeed, the death of the character of Desmond Miles, which we have embodied since the beginning of the franchise, scored Ubisoft’s series.
Perhaps some of you share my opinion, namely that since his death, the contemporary frame in the following episodes is anecdotal and superficial. In any case, another ending was considered and could have change a lot of things.
Our colleagues fromEurogamer inform us that the end of the series Assassin’s Creed had to take place aboard a spaceship and Desmond would have flown into space. The researcher in conspiracy theories, religion and other beliefs in digital media culture at the Belgian research university KU Leuven Lars deWildt, interviewed byformer developers and collaborators who worked on the Assassin’s Creed series. The idea for this alternate ending was dreamed up by Patrice Désilets, co-creator of the Assassin’s Creed series.
The original blueprint was pieced together from interviews I had with Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Désilets and Assassin’s Creed 3 creative director Alex Hutchinson. In short, the third game ended with the conflict being resolved in our time, with Desmond Miles taking down Abstergo using the knowledge and skills of all of his ancestors, including Altair for Assassin’s Creed and Ezio for Assassin’s Creed II. Also, it’s the end of the world in 2012 and Desmond Miles and Lucy start a new civilization somewhere else, as Adam and Eve.
– Lars de Wildt
Patrice Desilets adds that Desmond Miles and Lucy should have left Earth in a spaceship to create a new world.
What would be the face of the assassin’s creed saga if that ending had been chosen. No one knows, but this conclusion leaves room for the imagination. Ubisoft preferred to work on another arc of the saga in order to explore other eras, while placing some links with Desmond and his past.
What do you think of this ending?
