Will the Eagles soon be in residence at the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas?
Budgeted at $2.2 billion, the future MSG Sphere showroom will be able to accommodate no less than 17,500 people within The Venetian Las Vegas hotel-casino.
The opening is already scheduled for September 29. U2 is due to inaugurate it with a residency entitled U2 :UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere (see article below).
However, it is not yet officially known who will succeed him. The New York Post seems to have the answer.
Indeed, 2 different anonymous sources have told it that the Eagles are in the process of setting dates for a forthcoming series of concerts to follow U2’s at the famous venue.
Difficulties finding artists to perform at the MSG Sphere
For the moment, the information that interests us in today’s news is not yet official. Nevertheless, it seems extremely credible.
Irving Azoff manages both U2 and Eagles. In fact, he is a consultant paid by the MSG Sphere to seek out big-name stars wishing to perform there.
And it’s more complicated than you might think. And that’s just one of the other things to learn from the New York Post article.
Originally, the MSG Sphere announced that it intended to host 4 to 6 prestigious headliners every year. So far, however, only U2’s residency has been made official.
Many renowned artists are still hesitant. They fear that the venue’s giant screens will overshadow their music.
What’s more, they felt that all this technology would prevent concerts from being easily transferable to other venues.
In any case, it has to be admitted that there aren’t many artists who have the shoulders to perform on the MSG Sphere stage.
You still have to manage to attract 17,500 shows per performance with sky-high production costs and extremely high ticket prices.
These include U2, of course, as well as the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Taylor Swift and a few others, but not necessarily many.
This is especially true as Elton John has just officially retired at 76 and Céline Dion is suffering from an incurable disease that seems to prevent her from giving concerts.

Let’s face it, the Eagles are unquestionably on the short list of those who can rise to the challenge of performing at the MSG Sphere.
This is an absolutely mythical group whose compilation is quite simply the best-selling record in the USA, ahead of Michael Jackson’s Thiller album with over 38 million copies sold.
On September 7 and 8, the Eagles will kick off their farewell tour The Long Goodbye with 2 nights at Madison Square Garden.
For the moment, only dates up to November 17 have already been announced, leaving the band to follow U2 within the MSG Sphere.
